SPEECH DELAY

Speech delay refers to a developmental condition in which a child does not begin to speak or develop language skills at the expected age. This may involve limited vocabulary, difficulty forming sentences, or trouble understanding and using spoken language. While some children are simply “late talkers,” speech delay can also be linked to underlying issues such as hearing problems, developmental disorders, or environmental factors.

ARTICULATION PROBLEMS

Articulation is the clear and precise production of speech sounds using the tongue, lips, teeth, and vocal cords. An articulation problem occurs when a child has difficulty forming certain sounds correctly, which can make their speech hard to understand. Common signs include sound substitutions (like saying “wabbit” instead of “rabbit”), omissions, or distortions. These issues can stem from developmental delays, physical challenges, or hearing difficulties.
